Landtscap is a sustainable wedding venue, which is something that we take to heart and practice. One of the ways in which we have done this is to support initiatives like Place in the Sun, a range of wines sourced from around the Cape, including from our farm.
The wine farms are certified by FLO-CERT under the Fair Label Organisation (FLO) Standards that form part of Fairtrade. The Fairtrade label stands for sustainability and justice in production and trade processes – and this is how we’re able to facilitate the empowerment of farmers and farm workers and encourage community upliftment. Fairtrade farms are annually audited by FLO-CERT, which ensures transparency and reliability throughout the entire winemaking process.
To further protect our Cape Floral Kingdom, the Place in the Sun brand support eco-friendly wine-growing and winemaking principles therefor all the wines carry a sustainability seal from the South African Wine and Spirit board, demonstrating their commitment to production integrity.
As part of the Fairtrade Wine farming initiative, we’re proud to be supporting wines that play a part in improving the quality of vineyard workers’ lives. The team at Place in the Sun believe that wines made by people whose hearts and dreams are filled with optimism boast exceptional flavour, which leads to greater enjoyment. When people who are growing and harvesting grapes know they’re valued and an integral part of winemaking they take extra care and it shows in the quality of the grapes.
We experience this on the farm, as well as at the venue, where we endeavour to employ people from the surrounding farming community. All of these are ways that we’re able to facilitate the empowerment of our farmworkers and encourage community upliftment.
So the next time you are with us and enjoy a glass of Place in the Sun Sauvignon Blanc or Shiraz, know that somewhere in the future that simple pleasure will also benefit someone you have never met before.
