Fantastical Frida

We have before, admitted to the special magic of winter, and we still maintain that point of view. However, when it has been this cold and this grey for such an extended period of time, we cannot help but long for a little bit of warmth and colour.  After all, it is only human to want what is not always readily available right?

So while the Boland winter continues to equally charm and chill us, we think back to one of the themes of the Landtscap shoot we did a while ago.  The inspiration was Mexican and who better personifies that than the colourful painter Frida Kahlo.  Her paintings, most often self portraits where influenced by indigenous Mexican culture, which is apparent in her use of bright colors, dramatic symbolism and primitive style.  She always insisted:  “I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality.”

A Mexican fiesta theme is so vibrant and playful and loads of fun can be had!   We share some images from our our shoot and also some Mexican weddings we found on the web.
