“Sustainability is a new idea to people, and many find it hard to understand. But all over the world there are people who have entered into the exercise of imagining and bringing into being a sustainable world. They see it as a world to move toward not reluctantly, but joyfully, not with a sense of sacrifice, but a sense of adventure. A sustainable world could be very much better than the one we live in today.”
Donella H. Meadows
A sustainable wedding venue will be a new idea to many people, but Landtscap is the realization of a long nurtured dream of Piet and Izette Carinus. When you are planning for your Big Day, the location is probably one of the most important decisions to make and different couples have different requirements. What is refreshing to see is more and more couples opting for greener weddings because of a growing awareness of the colossal carbon footprint attached to the day.
This, together with their desire to create something that is not just a fashion fad but also a way of life, was the idea behind Landtscap.
Nestled on the ridge of a hill in Devon Valley, just outside Stellenbosch, Landtscap offers sweeping views of the majestic mountains enfolding it. It has been sculpted unobtrusively from the surrounding slopes and insulation is provided by a living garden on the roof. The idea was always for the venue to sit comfortably and naturally within its beautiful surroundings and not compete with it.
Sustainable practises where not only employed with the construction of the venue but forms an integral part of the Landtscap business philosophy. Economically, socially and environmentally, Landtscap strive to make a difference.
